dream catchers + textiles  - The balam family - Quintana roo, Mexico

Grateful and humbled don't even begin to describe our experience with the Balam family in the small Mayan village they founded over 30 years ago in search of a better life.

One of T R I B U's main goals is to give back to the artists and communities who produce the amazing and unique artwork featured in our shop.

10% of every purchase of the intricate, handcrafted dream catchers and works made by the Balam family will go back to their amazing Mayan community.

Where will the money go? To promoting their future and educating their youth. There is one small school in the Mayan village where they live; it is not large enough to house all the children at once. The younger children attend school from 9am to 3pm and the older children start at 3pm and attend until 9pm at night. The Balam family has requested our donations go toward the purchase of school supplies and sporting equipment for their school. We couldn't be more honored to oblige.

We already knew this from previous visits, but on this trip we witnessed more than ever that these handicrafts are not only genuine, but they are made with intention and purpose.

Here's to us all chasing our brightest dreams . . .
